Good Morning Bestie

Hey Bestie,

What do I want to yap about today? Some weeks I know exactly what I want to share and there are some where I am looking at the wall thinking what is something I know my besties want to read. Reflecting the past week, there was nothing major. Or "life changing", to be honest it was kinda boring. And that is okay. Feeling in a season where I know that there is progress but I do not or see or feel any progress. You are looking at yourself on what is MISSING? You go back to your routine, you attempt to focus your personal development. You do all the right things, but it is still not enough. Not sure if this makes any sense. Maybe because I haven't journaled, meditated, or gone to the gym. It is the most frustrating thing that the smallest acts can have the biggest impact for your day.

But back to what I wanted to yap about. My brain has been all over the place. The downloads of how I can move forward bring so much excitement and impatience all at the same time because we live in a time we want instant gratification. And we know that is not the answer. With March being around the corner it gets me wondering how I can make this quarter different? Being in this new norm of working fully on my own has been challenging me to create my own schedule and structure. Everything feels important and needs priority. There were times I almost would much rather work for someone else, because that is something I know I can do. Be productive for others peoples businesses. Then it hits me that, I asked for this type of control. There is a price when you are stepping into new levels. How many other people are struggling with putting their priorities first? It is probably why I fell off with my morning routine, low key a self sabotage moment. Our brain loves the familiar whether it is good for you or not. Right now I am in the season of creating a new norm. Being a hairstylist, hosting a podcast, content creation, the newsletter. All require something different. But I am so grateful that all of these new levels are MINE.

What I want to get to bestie is if you are doing something new for you. It does not have to always be under control, there are going to be moments you will feel stretched, challenged, and even confused. I sure know that is what I am experiencing. To anyone that is reading this, I would love to hear what is expanding you right now. What are you trying to get under control? Grateful to have this space where I have given myself permission to accept this messy middle. We are not meant to be so polished. Where is the fun with that?

Aligned AF

If you have not created a morning routine. I highly suggest you dedicate a minimum of 1 hour for you to get clear on your day.

Momentum Spotlight

Ashley Maisonet

Photographer and Creative Director

Giving flowers to the besties who's embodying the work, whether they're building new routines, launching a passion project, or just showing up for themselves in a real way. This is where we celebrate progress and realignment.

Tell us who you are and what you do?

I'm Ashley Maisonet and I am a Photographer and CreativeDirector here in Orlando, FL. I run a photography business focused on branding and portrait work. I also work with a podcast studio in Downtown Orlando. Outside of my work, I'm also a wife and mother of two young children, so my hands stay full.

What does your current routine look like (realistically)?

Realistically, this stage of my life requires my routines to cater more towards my family. This means less perfectly curated self-care routines and more practical habits to keep us all on track...and sane. My typical day looks like 6:00am wake up, packing lunches, getting dressed and caffeinated and making sure i get my littles out on time before starting my work day. When schedules allow, we always prioritize family dinner and quality time in the afternoon before winding down and starting all over. At some point, I'd love to make more space during my week to feed my soul on a more consistent basis

Pick three characteristics that you think are non-negotiable for growth. Go into details.

Three non-negotiable characteristics for growth are resilience, adaptability, and embracing discomfort. Each of these characteristics withstands challenges, setbacks, pivots, and unexpected obstacles throughout the growth process. Whether it's in your career, personal development, relationships, spirituality, or any other aspect of life, I don't believe our journey to grow is a linear process. We all have unique experiences, but we all face our own tensions and challenges. Our ability to overcome these obstacles through resilience, adaptability, and embracing discomfort helps us push past our limitations and become something greater every day.

What's one micro habit that's changed the way you show up for yourself? Why is it important?

Giving attention to my interests, even if they're temporary and short-lived, is crucial. As a mom, I often feel guilty for taking time for myself because there's a constant tension to give and give without pouring back into my own well. However, allowing myself to dive into a new book, binge a short series, take a salsa class, grab coffee alone, fixate on a new hobby, or learn a new skill, even if I know it won't go much further, reminds me that I matter. It reminds me that my desires deserve my attention and that it's all part of being a whole woman and human. It may seem simple, but in this stage of my life, it has helped me show up for myself in various ways. It's been a muscle that I've had to work out for sure.

What are you unlearning in this season of your life?

I'm shedding the notion that what once was must remain unchanged. It's perfectly acceptable to evolve, change my mind, and pivot. Your vision is free to change, and you can appreciate past seasons without feeling compelled to replicate them in order to grow.

Where can our readers find you or support what you're working on?

You can find me on Instagram @maisomedia for work and @ashleymaiso for personal, family and lifestyle. I'm not always super active on social media but it's still a great place to connect.
